Alexis Karpouzos

Alexis Karpouzos (Greek : Αλέξης καρπούζος) (born April, 9, 1967) is an internationally recognized Philosopher, Spiritual Teacher and Author. He has attended philosophy and social sciences lessons at the School of Philosophy and at the Law School of Athens. He participated in self-organized alternative education groups which were experiencing modern pedagogical and didactic theories and methods. He is experienced in the theory and the method of psychoanalysis. His research interests are the relationship between Time and Cosmos, Nature and History, Zero and Infinity, One - Multiple, Emptiness and Fullness, Technology and Art, Conscious and Unconscious.

Τhe originality of Alexis Karpouzos thought is that it crosses the most diverse fields, the most opposing philosophies, to unite them into an often contradictory and broken whole. Hegel's dialectical ontology and the contemporary thought of Marx, Nietzsche, Freud, Heidegger and others contribute as an interpretative framework for understanding the central problems of the technical and scientific world of his time. Novalis, Hölderlin, Rimbaud, Whitman, Eliot and others show the dreamlike nature of existence, the transcendence of the Cosmos, welcome the infinite.

 The most central and famous concept of Alexis Karpouzos is that the World is neither pure order, nor chaos, nor a simple dialectical contradiction - it is an open and creative play of forces. Man does not dominate the world, but man and the world cooperate and co-form.

Planetary thinking - We live in the era of complete technical development, where everything becomes a single system (economy - technology - information - power). However, this "planetary" state is at the same time unadorned, the open, poetic dimension of Being is lost.

Open thinking: It rejects dogmatic thinking and closed ideology and invites us to think about the world as an open question about alienation, technology and practice.

Technique and alienation: Technique is not just a tool - it has become the dominant way of revealing Being. Modern man lives in a global mediocrity and technical totality that swallows freedom and creative wandering. The attitude of the thinker today is not the conquest of truth, but the eternal wandering within the question, without a final refuge.

Post-metaphysical thought: It tries to overcome Western metaphysics (from Plato to Hegel-Marx), without falling into nihilism or relativism. The planetary era is the end of philosophy as metaphysics and the opening to a post-metaphysical attitude that rejects the final synthesis.

Post-human wisdom / After man → Ideas for overcoming anthropocentrism, towards a unified cosmic consciousness. It explores the movement beyond anthropocentric thinking - where man is the measure of all things - towards a broader, integrated awareness that embraces the entire world as a single, conscious whole. In his context, this includes: Overcoming dualisms (human vs. non-human, self vs. universe).

Recognition of the interconnectedness of consciousness, nature, and the world. A shift towards a "posthuman" or "post-human" perspective of unity, where wisdom emerges from participation in cosmic processes rather than domination or separation. It is part of his holistic/post-ontological philosophy that attempts to envision the next evolutionary leap of consciousness. 

He has published 16 books in Greek and 8 in English. His essays and articles have been translated and published in many languages, including French, German, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, and Hindi. He collaborates with social centers, university departments, and research institutes, maintaining contacts with scientists, poets, and artists worldwide.

 PHILOSOPHICAL WORK AND CONCEPTS

The thought of Alexis Karpouzos is characterized by the attempt to transcend traditional metaphysical oppositions and to understand the techno-scientific era.

1. Post-Ontological thought: Describes the attempt to transcend traditional metaphysics and ontology, focusing instead on the 'play' of the world rather than the search for a fixed essence of 'Being'."The coexistence of Man and World and its multiple transformations.

2. Open totality :Refers to Karpouzos's conception of the world as a whole that is not closed or static, but is in a constant state of motion and becoming.

3. Metaphysics of Openness: The opening of thought to the Unthinkable and the Unutterable.

4. Paradoxical Logic: The poetic transcendence of logical categories (being/non-being).

5. Diagonal Path: The convergence of opposites in the “One-All” or “Whole-Nothing.”

6. Universal Consciousness: The experience of interconnected existence as the coexistence of the All/Nothing.

7. Spherical Spacetime: The total-sum of all World perspectives, inseparable from the absolute Nothing, which transform indeterminately.

The main intellectual influences on Alexis karpouzos and how they appear in his thought are as follows:*

• Heraclitus: This is the fundamental axis of Karpouzos's philosophy. It manifests through the ideas of "panta rhei" (everything flows), the unity of opposites, and the notion of play/game. The central connections are the play of the world and the idea of eternal motion and becoming.

Open thinking: Rejects dogmatic thinking and closed ideology and invites us to think about the world as an open question about alienation, technology, and practice.

• Heidegger: The question of Being, technology as a mode of revealing (aletheia), and the critique of metaphysics are strongly present. Main points of connection include: the planetary era, the end of philosophy as metaphysics, and technology as the dominant way beings are unconcealed.

• Nietzsche: Karpouzos draws on the overcoming of nihilism, the eternal return, and play as a form of transcendence. This appears in his post-metaphysical stance, the critique of values, and play as a way to surpass nihilism.

• Hegel: He both critiques and makes use of dialectics — but crucially opens it up rather than closing it into a system. The primary connection is the rejection of any final synthesis, resulting in an open (non-totalizing) dialectic.

• Freud: The influence is less direct but operates at a deeper level concerning desire and the unconscious. It connects mainly to the themes of play and freedom, adding a psychoanalytical layer to liberation and the dynamics of desire.

Alexis Karpouzos is a founder of the international community of learning, research and culture in Greece. More than 12000 people have participated in the lessons and community’s actions. The community has contacts and partnerships in 15 countries. Our goal is to create a spiritual experience in consciousness worldwide where people recognize that we are all part of an interconnected whole. The community’s activities include residential courses and conferences. The Community also runs discussion groups, social activities, art workshops, produces events, publishes books and videos in Greece.  ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΑ ΣΤΑ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ - ΑΛΕΞΗΣ ΚΑΡΠΟΥΖΟΣ

Η πιο κεντρική και διάσημη έννοια του Αλέξη Καρπούζου είναι ότι ο Κόσμος δεν είναι ούτε καθαρή τάξη, ούτε χάος, ούτε μια απλή διαλεκτική αντίφαση - είναι ένα ανοιχτό και δημιουργικό παιχνίδι δυνάμεων. Ο άνθρωπος δεν κυριαρχεί στον κόσμο, αλλά άνθρωπος και κόσμος συν-διαμορφώνονται.

Πλανητική σκέψη - Ζούμε στην εποχή της πλήρους τεχνικής ανάπτυξης, όπου όλα γίνονται ένα ενιαίο σύστημα (οικονομία - τεχνολογία - πληροφορία - δύναμη). Ωστόσο, αυτή η «πλανητική» κατάσταση είναι ταυτόχρονα άκοσμη, η ανοιχτή, ποιητική διάσταση του Κόσμου χάνεται.

Ανοιχτή σκέψη: Απορρίπτει τη δογματική σκέψη και την κλειστή ιδεολογία και μας προσκαλεί να σκεφτούμε τον κόσμο ως ένα ανοιχτό ερώτημα σχετικά με την αποξένωση, την τεχνολογία και την πρακτική.

Τεχνική και αποξένωση: Η τεχνική δεν είναι απλώς ένα εργαλείο - έχει γίνει ο κυρίαρχος τρόπος αποκάλυψης του είναι. Ο σύγχρονος άνθρωπος ζει μέσα σε μια παγκόσμια μετριότητα και τεχνική ολότητα που καταπίνει την ελευθερία και την δημιουργική περιπλάνηση. Η στάση του στοχαστή σήμερα δεν είναι η κατάκτηση της αλήθειας, αλλά η αιώνια περιπλάνηση μέσα στο ερώτημα, χωρίς τελικό καταφύγιο.

Μετα-μεταφυσική σκέψη: Προσπαθεί να ξεπεράσει τη Δυτική μεταφυσική (από τον Πλάτωνα μέχρι τον Χέγκελ-Μαρξ), χωρίς να πέσει στον μηδενισμό ή τον σχετικισμό. Η πλανητική εποχή είναι το τέλος της φιλοσοφίας ως μεταφυσικής και ανοίγεται σε μια μετα-μεταφυσική στάση που απορρίπτει την τελική σύνθεση.

Μετα-ανθρώπινη σοφία / Μετά τον άνθρωπο → Υπέρβαση του ανθρωποκεντρισμού, προς μια ενοποιημένη κοσμική συνείδηση. Διερευνά την κίνηση πέρα ​​από την ανθρωποκεντρική σκέψη - όπου ο άνθρωπος είναι το μέτρο όλων των πραγμάτων - προς μια ευρύτερη, ολοκληρωμένη επίγνωση που αγκαλιάζει ολόκληρο τον κόσμο ως ένα ενιαίο, συνειδητό σύνολο. ΒΑΣΙΚΕΣ ΕΝΝΟΙΕΣ ΤΗΣ ΣΚΕΨΗΣ ΤΟΥ ΑΛΕΞΗΣ ΚΑΡΠΟΥΖΟΣ

Η «Μετα-οντολογική σκέψη» περιγράφει την προσπάθεια υπέρβασης της παραδοσιακής μεταφυσικής και οντολογίας, εστιάζοντας πλέον στο «ρυθμό και τις μεταμορφώσεις» του Κόσμου αντί για την αναζήτηση μιας σταθερής ουσίας του «Όντος».

Η «Ανοιχτή Ολότητα» αναφέρεται στην αντίληψη του Καρπούζου για τον κόσμο ως ένα σύνολο που δεν είναι κλειστό ή στατικό, αλλά βρίσκεται σε διαρκή κίνηση και γίγνεσθαι.

Η "Μετα- Μεταφυσική της Ανοιχτότητας" είναι το άνοιγμα του στοχασμού στο Αδιανόητο και το Άρρητο Η ''Παράδοξη λογική'' συνιστά το ποιητικό ξεπέρασμα των λογικών κατηγοριών (είναι/μη-είναι).

Οι κύριες διανοητικές επιρροές στον Αλέξη Καρπούζο και ο τρόπος με τον οποίο εμφανίζονται στη σκέψη του είναι οι εξής:

• Ηράκλειτος: Αυτός είναι ο θεμελιώδης άξονας της φιλοσοφίας του Καρπούζου. Εκδηλώνεται μέσα από τις ιδέες του «πάντα ρέει» (τα πάντα ρέουν), της ενότητας των αντιθέτων και της έννοιας του παιχνιδιού/παιχνιδιού. Οι κεντρικές συνδέσεις είναι το παιχνίδι του κόσμου και η ιδέα της αιώνιας κίνησης και του γίγνεσθαι.

• Μαρξ: Ο Καρπούζος αναπτύσσει μια ανοιχτή, μη δογματική εκδοχή του Μαρξισμού, εστιάζοντας στην κριτική της αλλοτρίωσης και ιδιαίτερα της τεχνολογίας. Κύρια σημεία σύνδεσης περιλαμβάνουν: την πλανητική εποχή, το τέλος της φιλοσοφίας ως μεταφυσικής και την τεχνολογία ως τον κυρίαρχο τρόπο με τον οποίο τα όντα αποκαλύπτονται.

• Νίτσε: Ο Καρπούζος βασίζεται στην υπερνίκηση του μηδενισμού, την αιώνια επιστροφή και το παιχνίδι ως μορφή υπέρβασης. Αυτό φαίνεται στην μετα-μεταφυσική του στάση, την κριτική των αξιών και το παιχνίδι ως έναν τρόπο υπέρβασης του μηδενισμού.

• Χέγκελ: Κριτικάρει και χρησιμοποιεί τη διαλεκτική — αλλά κυρίως την ανοίγει αντί να την κλείνει σε ένα σύστημα. Η κύρια σύνδεση είναι η απόρριψη οποιασδήποτε τελικής σύνθεσης, με αποτέλεσμα μια ανοιχτή (μη ολοκληρωτική) διαλεκτική.

• Φρόιντ: Η επιρροή είναι λιγότερο άμεση αλλά λειτουργεί σε ένα βαθύτερο επίπεδο που αφορά την επιθυμία και το ασυνείδητο. Συνδέεται κυρίως με τα θέματα του παιχνιδιού και της ελευθερίας, προσθέτοντας ένα ψυχαναλυτικό επίπεδο στην απελευθέρωση και τη δυναμική της επιθυμίας.
